The gentle flyby of a monarch butterfly brings both a smile and a simple reminder that we are surrounded by beauty, we need only look for it. With a wonderful response to My Bug Book, I centered my wool felted painting on one of my favorite insects, the monarch butterfly. When I was young, maybe 11 or so, I found a perfect little monarch butterfly along the path that leads from the soccer field back to Kingfield Elementary School. It was barely hanging on so I scooped it up and took it home. To this day, that little monarch butterfly sits next to a goldilocks doll in my mother’s doll case. Taking time to see and enjoy nature is never a trivial pursuit. My hope is that this beautiful wool fiber painting will bring whimsy and natural beauty to your home.
If you are a nature lover, another recent wool fiber painting that may pique your interest captures the view from Ira Mountain, just north of Kingfield, along a northern stretch of the Appalachian Trail. Enjoy: Maine Mountains Fiber Painting
