Every Flock & Felt Curriculum Kit arrives ready for your classroom. Each kit includes:
Student Stations
Every student station comes fully equipped with felting needles in three sizes, a wooden handle, finger guards, and an 8×8 foam pad — everything a student needs to felt independently and safely.
Wool Pre-felt
Each student receives wool pre-felt in two sizes: a bookmark size and a 5×7 sheet, available in a wide variety of colors. There will also be natural colors in the mix. Natural color bases are great when the student will be applying a full covering of color. Pre-felt is sourced from National Nonwovens in Massachusetts.
Maine Farm Roving & Batts
At the heart of every kit is a bounty of high quality needle felting wool sourced directly from Maine fiber farms and processors. Your wool stash includes .75 ounce per student. Every kit includes a curated mix of natural colors, vibrant jewel and earth tone colors, gradient and multi-tone colors, and color blends, giving students a rich, varied palette to work with and a genuine connection to the fiber farmers behind every strand. Roving provides continuous, rope-like strips of carded fibers. Wool batts are made on a drum carder, resulting in a wide, flat blanket of fibers in a blend of colors.
Curly Locks
Included as a shared classroom resource, curly locks add texture, dimension, and whimsy to student projects. Curly locks are fabulous for adding hair, plants, water details and more to felted projects. Each kit includes both natural colors and vibrant dyed colors, sourced from Maine farms.

A local investment in hands-on fiber arts for your school, including 30 fully equipped, reusable student stations, Maine sourced wool roving and blended batts (.75 ounce per student), wool pre-felt in two sizes for every student, and curly locks. Wool is curated in a mix of natural, vibrant, earth tone, gradient, and blended colors. Student stations are built to last. Your student stations are built to last for years of classroom felting. When it’s time to replenish your wool supply, we make it easy. Annual wool restocking orders include Maine farm roving, wool batts, wool pre-felt in both sizes, and curly locks, curated in the same rich mix of natural, vibrant, earth tone, gradient, and blended colors your students already love. Wool sourcing may vary slightly by season as we work directly with Maine fiber farms and bring new farm partners into the fold.

Every kit includes wool sourced directly from Maine fiber farmers and processors. Sourcing occurs in person at events like the Maine Fiber Frolic and the Common Ground Country Fair, and through direct farm relationships. A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm, Sumner, ME
Where it all began. A women-owned and operated small farm using organic practices in the foothills of the western mountains of Maine. A Wrinkle in Thyme raises Romney crosses, Finn crosses, Border Leicester, and Corriedale sheep, bred for their soft fiber. Marty and Mary Ann’s farm is where my own felting origin story took root, and their incredibly soft, home-grown Maine wool remains at the heart of what I do.
MoonCrazy Fibre Arts, Freedom, ME
A woman-owned studio and small farm in Freedom, Maine, MoonCrazy has been handcrafting fiber products since 2007. Diantha Turner raises her own sheep and angora rabbits, taking wool and angora fiber through every step herself: washing, carding, spinning, and dyeing, using organic and natural dyes, some sustainably harvested or grown on the farm. Diantha’s vibrant, hand-dyed roving brings some of the most expressive color in every kit, and several of those colors live in the illustrations of Flock of Rock. Bartlett Yarns, Harmony, ME
Operating since 1821, Bartlett Yarns is home to the only remaining working spinning mule in the United States — a piece of living American textile history that gives their fiber its characteristic loft and airiness. Sourcing domestically from producers mostly along the east coast, Bartlett Yarns produces over 70 roving colorways — from natural undyed tones to heathery Shetland-inspired blends rooted in the lakes, forests, and mountains of Maine. Their round roving, carded on an 1881 carding machine still in full working order, is a cornerstone of every kit.

Marie and Corbin Brace came to farming and fiber with a vision of revitalizing an old farmstead in rural Maine, raising their family in the country and pursuing their crafts — Marie as a fiber artist, Corbin as a blacksmith. Their Shetland sheep graze the fields at Birch Branch Farm, and Marie’s hand-dyed work is some of the most color-forward fiber in Maine’s fiber community.
