Autumn Issue of Bangor Metro
September 2024
ARTICLE AND PHOTO BY JODI HERSEY
In the Autumn issue of Bangor Metro Magazine, a special section of the Bangor Daily News, you’ll find a beautiful profile for Binding Tales by Jodi Hersey. The photos are so vibrant and the overview provides a snapshot of where I started, why and how I do what I do, and what’s coming next.
“Each illustration takes anywhere from 15 to 25 hours to complete,” Dow said. “The characters in my books have often been inspired by our two children, Eva and Tyler, or our nieces and nephews. My parents are in the first book as Babcia and Dziadzia.”
Maine’s numerous farms and festivals help Dow stay well stocked with fiber supplies.
“The Common Ground [Country] Fair and The Maine Fiber Frolic are both wonderful opportunities to network with Maine’s fiber farmers and producers.
It is such a privilege to be featured in the press. I offer my heart felt thanks to our local news media for helping share my story. If you would like to discuss writing or producing a story on Binding Tales, please contact Hillary Dow.

To kick off 2024 I had the distinct pleasure of being interviewed by ABC 7 and FOX 22’s Jodi Hersey for the evening news. You may view my story on their YouTube channel for a behind the scenes look at how and where I create my felted illustrations and more.
