Description
This original felt Octopus, a sculptural painting made entirely from wool, started as a lap project on a family adventure from Maine to Boston. Along I95 in northern New England, eight tentacles sprang to life and then came together as one back in Hillary’s studio in Hampden, Maine. Not long after joining the World, this piece was a fast favorite at the 2023 Machias Fiber Festival and got scooped up right away. It was a delight to watch so many people’s eyes widen and jaws drop as they took in the visual feast of a 2D wall hanging that brought a 3D octopus popping out of the wall. Truly, that reaction and ensuing interaction will never get old.
Your purchase will be a formal art commission. Your octopus would be created in the same size and style as the one pictured here. A wool loop will be attached to the back, making your piece ready to hang. The felt octopus sculptural painting is hand crafted with wool, using nothing more than a rainbow of wool, felting needles, and a whole lot of creativity. As a commissioned piece, please expect 2-3 weeks for delivery (accounting for both creation and shipping).
